Silver jewellery price in Pakistan: what you are paying for

Two silver pieces can look alike online and still be far apart in price. Here is what goes into the price of 925 silver jewellery, with our real price ranges.

Jaipur Jhumkas, 925 silver earrings with polki, green onyx and zircon

Two silver rings can look the same in a photo and still cost very different amounts. Knowing what goes into the price helps you compare fairly and spot a deal that is too good to be true.

The silver itself

Good silver jewellery is made in 925 sterling silver: 92.5% silver mixed with a little copper so it is strong enough to wear. A heavier piece has more silver in it, so it costs more. The silver market rate also moves, which is why silver prices change over time.

The stones

Zircons (cubic zirconia) give a lot of sparkle for the price. Coloured stones such as topaz, citrine, emerald, ruby and sapphire cost more, and so does a piece with many small stones, because each one is set by hand.

The finish

Most silver jewellery is plated. Rhodium plating gives a bright white silver look and slows down tarnish. Gold and rose gold plating give the look of gold on a silver base, for much less than gold. Two tone pieces use both.

Handwork and size

Polki and kundan work, layered jhumkas and long malas take hours of setting. That time is a big part of the price of a bridal piece.

Our prices right now

These ranges update by themselves when our prices change:

  • Rings: Rs 15,500 to Rs 28,500
  • Earrings: Rs 22,000 to Rs 90,000
  • Bracelets and bangles: Rs 22,000 to Rs 75,000
  • Necklaces and pendants: Rs 40,500 to Rs 75,000
  • Tikka: Rs 22,000 to Rs 35,000

How to compare prices fairly

Check that the piece is sold as 925 silver and look for the stamp. Ask what plating it has. Be careful with very cheap "silver": it is often brass or white metal with a thin coating. Here is how to check real 925 silver before you buy.
